Dear Cal folk:

Due to health and life changes, our Cal 39 Gypsy will be passing into new hands this year. While not dilapidated, the boat has been sitting for a while. We will be doing haulout for the bottom and some routine work and paint in June - July time frame, at which point we expect to list it. For any who appreciate the early Cal 39s and might wish to do the usual new owner build / refit items themselves we are entirely open to discussion of a fair price based on where the boat is in the process at that point.

She lies in an upwind "owned" slip in Marina Bay (D dock) and that slip will also be for sale when we don't need it anymore. Slip is actually worth more than the boat, but that's a different conversation. Berthing costs are ridiculously low and that contract is transferable.

This is not a wreck rebuild, just clean up from a couple years of forced neglect. Yanmar 3 cyl, freshly rebuilt Raritan unit, new watermaker still pickled in the box, Radar ready to mount, etc etc. The first gen of Cal39s are more stout, have deck stepped mast and other features which make for better ocean boats than the later versions. Gypsy also carries the rare Cutter rig. An incredible sailing hull with enough room below for creature comforts - exactly, I believe, what Bill Lapworth had in mind coming off the Cal 40. Fast and comfortable, the makings of a wonderful offshore cruiser and already a great bay boat.

Our fading dream might be your shining one.

Hi Mel, Sorry to hear you have to sell your Cal. Where is it located? Can you share some photos?
