Hi everyone

Soon to be back on the water again cruising Gulf coast, eastern seaboard and possibly a little lower in the latitudes. The boat I enjoyed as teen with my parents is now in final commissioning and sea trials. Culmination of total gut out and rebuild on Cal 2-46 ketch has brought a 48yr production boat to custom Bristol standards. Now she's lighter, stronger, faster, and safer than before. Cal always made strong boats for heavy weather sailing as compared to newer production cruising sailboats which enjoys lighter winds.

" Yes--even my little Cal 20 was designed to stand up in a stiff breeze. In Grand Traverse Bay, we have more and more "schooner weather"--the days when only the big gaff schooners, with their short rigs and heavy hulls--are out sailing. But often enough the Cal 20 joins them. Seems to me that sailboats ought to be competent in a variety of conditions.
