exhaust water in #4 cylinder

It has been a year since I got the "new" manifold. I pressure tested it last week to 33 psi and it held firm for 4 minutes. I pressure tested the engine after replacing the head gasket and it dropped about 1/2 psi from 15psi after two minutes I assume from the visible water leak out a couple of head bolts. That leak will go away based on past experience but my assumption is that the block is fine. The head gasket turned out to be fine. So why was there water in the oil?

After running the engine for 15 minutes after the new gasket was installed, I pulled the #4 plug and saw what I would call a large drop of water. I sopped it up with a paper towel. I think that is how the water is getting in the oil.

My conclusion is that my exhaust system is not correct. I have a 12 inch hose from the exhaust riser to a water lift muffler. The output goes to a hose that goes to center high near the transom. Maybe that is too high. Maybe I should run it in a more risky location.

The history is that the boat came with a standpipe system. 25 years ago I had the boat surveyed and the exhaust pipe failed. Svendsens replaced the entire exhaust system with the water lift and ran the outlet hose just under the toe rail. I flooded the engine twice by putting the rail in the water and changed it to where it is now. The system I have meets all the Vetus specifications but some are right at the minimum and some right at the maximum. Is anyone here an expert on exhaust systems? I could use some help on what the critical dimension I should increase or decrease.

I should say, the biggest issue is that the exhaust valve sticks. I have learned to deal with it but it is a pita.

I have a second question and will start a second thread.

Just thought these images from one of your older posts would be helpful to someone making suggestions.
